Instagram

SocialPrez connects to Instagram Business or Creator accounts and publishes feed posts and Reels through Instagram's own Graph API.

What it does

  • Publish feed posts (a single photo) and Reels (video) to your connected Instagram account.
  • Schedule any Instagram post ahead of time, for as far ahead as your plan allows.
  • Read per-post analytics — likes and comment counts always; a wider set of numbers (reach, views, and more) once that access is approved for your account.
  • Read the comments and replies left on your own posts, so you can see them inside SocialPrez.
  • Refresh your connection's access token automatically before it expires, so you don't have to reconnect.

What SocialPrez does not do on Instagram:

  • SocialPrez only reads comments — it never creates, edits, or deletes a comment on Instagram.
  • Personal Instagram accounts cannot connect — only Business or Creator accounts.

Permissions

Every permission Instagram shows on the consent screen, in plain English.

Instagram permissions
Permission What it allows What SocialPrez uses it for What you lose without it
instagram_business_basic See your account's username, profile picture, and basic account info. Connecting your account and showing which account is connected. Your account cannot be connected at all — every other Instagram feature needs this too.
instagram_business_content_publish Publish feed posts (photo) and Reels (video) to your account. The core feature — publishing the feed posts and Reels you create in SocialPrez. Posts and Reels created in SocialPrez cannot be published to Instagram.
instagram_business_manage_insights Read per-post performance numbers such as reach and views. The wider Analytics numbers beyond likes/comments. No analytics beyond like and comment counts, which come from a separate, always-available call.
instagram_business_manage_comments Read the comments and replies left on your posts. Meta's grant is broader than what SocialPrez actually does — SocialPrez only ever reads; it never creates, edits, or deletes a comment. Showing comments and replies inside SocialPrez. No comment or reply data shown inside SocialPrez for that account.

Your data

What SocialPrez reads: Your account username, profile picture, and account type; per-post like and comment counts, and (once approved) a wider set of reach/views-family numbers; comments and replies on your own posts.

What SocialPrez stores: Your account id, username, profile picture, account type, and access token (encrypted, server-side only — never sent to your phone); which permissions you actually granted; your posts and their published-media ids; comments and replies read from your posts.

What SocialPrez never does: SocialPrez never stores your Instagram password (it only ever uses OAuth), never sends your access token to your phone, and never creates, edits, or deletes a comment.

Rules

Business or Creator accounts only

Personal Instagram accounts are rejected at connect time.

Publish rate limit

Up to 200 posts per account per day, a limit set by Instagram's own Content Publishing API, not by SocialPrez.

Feed post image

Aspect ratio between 0.8 and 1.91, 320–1440px wide, up to 8 MB, JPEG only.

Reel

Aspect ratio between 0.45 and 0.65, up to 15 minutes, up to 300 MB, MP4 or MOV.

Caption length

Up to 2,200 characters, Instagram's own limit.

Disconnect

In SocialPrez: Settings → Connected Account(s) → Disconnect next to your Instagram account. This deletes SocialPrez's stored connection and access token immediately.

On Instagram: Disconnecting inside SocialPrez does not revoke the grant on Instagram's side. To fully remove SocialPrez's access, open Instagram, go to Settings, and look for “Apps and Websites” (or the equivalent in your Meta Accounts Center) — the exact menu wording and location can change over time on Instagram's side.

Limits

  • Analytics beyond like and comment counts, and comment/reply reading, are not yet available to customers generally — that access has not yet been approved by Meta. Until it is, only SocialPrez's own registered testers see those numbers.
  • Not every analytics number is available for every post type — feed posts, Reels, and Stories each show a different set of numbers.
  • If you remove SocialPrez from your Instagram/Meta account settings, Instagram does not yet automatically tell SocialPrez to delete your data — disconnect inside the app, or delete your SocialPrez account, to remove it yourself.
